About Zakari Aliyu Suleiman

Zakari Suleiman, MD, is an anesthesiologist. He provides anesthesia services to patients with different surgical conditions who are scheduled for surgery under sedation, regional and general anesthesia. He also treats procedure-related pain and other respiratory and cardiovascular conditions during the perioperative period.
“I am passionate about preventing and treating immediate postoperative pulmonary and cardiovascular complications,” he says.
Dr. Suleiman earned his medical degree from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria and a master's degree in public administration from University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He followed that with a residency at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital in Ilorin, Nigeria. After his residency, Dr. Suleiman had trainings on interventional pain management in the U.S., Netherlands and Hungary and was a certified Fellow of the Interventional Pain Practice of the World Institute of Pain.
He notes the thing he loves most about his job is “the availability of all the necessary resources and support required to provide safe and quality anesthesia care for patients during surgical interventions. And addressing any perioperative issues that may lead to patient satisfaction.”
Dr. Suleman was inspired to become a healthcare provider by his own experience with having polio as a child. He’s driven by his “passion to prevent disease, restore and improve the health of sick people.”
He’s an accomplished researcher and has published numerous works in various medical journals.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their 4 children, traveling and learning about other cultures.
