Rebecca Lauren Lepovsky Braunsdorf, OD

Rebecca Lauren Lepovsky Braunsdorf, OD, specializes in comprehensive eye care, with expertise in diagnosing, managing and treating a wide range of eye diseases and vision conditions. She provides care for patients with common vision problems such as nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), astigmatism and age-related focusing difficulties (presbyopia). She also helps patients with dry eye syndrome, blepharitis, meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), styes, allergic and bacterial conjunctivitis, and contact lens-related complications.

Dr. Braunsdorf has advanced training in corneal diseases and contact lenses, including fitting specialty lenses for patients with keratoconus, corneal dystrophies and other complex eye conditions. She also diagnoses, monitors and co-manages more advanced eye diseases in partnership with ophthalmologists, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, optic neuritis and uveitis. She provides urgent care for sudden vision changes, flashes and floaters, corneal abrasions, foreign bodies and chemical burns.

At Geisinger, Dr. Braunsdorf leads the specialty contact lens clinic, working closely with corneal and anterior segment specialists to provide customized care for patients with complex vision needs. She is passionate about improving patients’ quality of life by enhancing their vision and eye comfort, and she values the long-term relationships she builds with her patients.

In 2023, Dr. Braunsdorf was honored with the Press Ganey Top Patient Experience Clinician Award, recognizing her commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. She has also published in Modern Optometry on in-office corneal procedures.

Originally from Rhode Island, Dr. Braunsdorf completed her optometry education in Philadelphia before being recruited to Geisinger to expand specialty contact lens care in the region. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and her two mini goldendoodles, Theo and Pepper. Her hobbies are playing tennis, hiking and traveling.
