Niloufar Masoudi, MD, is an anesthesiologist at Geisinger. She sees adults who are undergoing surgery or other procedures that require anesthesia. She has clinical expertise in kidney transplant and bariatric surgery. She also has an interest in clinical research.
Dr. Masoudi earned her medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran, where she also completed her residency. After residency, she came to the U.S. to study public health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
What inspired her to become a provider, she notes, was “a combination of human connection and intellectual curiosity.”
“I’ve always been drawn to situations where I could make a meaningful difference in someone’s life, especially during moments of vulnerability. Medicine offered that unique opportunity — to combine science with compassion in a very direct and impactful way. During my training in anesthesiology, that inspiration deepened. I realized how powerful it is to be the person who ensures a patient’s safety and comfort during surgery.”
Dr. Masoudi is an accomplished researcher and presenter. Her work has been published in numerous medical journals. “I’m also very proud of my work in research and presenting my abstract at the ASA Annual Meeting 2024,” she says. “That experience reinforced my passion for clinical research and evidence-based practice, and it motivated me to continue contributing to the field at a higher level.”
Dr. Masoudi speaks English and Persian.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, drawing, jogging, hiking and skiing, playing tennis and interior design.
