Mohammad Al Khateeb, MD, is a nephrologist (kidney doctor) who cares for people with all types of kidney disease, including chronic kidney disease, kidney failure and complications from high blood pressure and diabetes. He has expertise in treating patients who need hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis and provides ongoing care for people who have had a kidney transplant.
Dr. Al Khateeb works closely with a team of Geisinger specialists to manage complex conditions so his patients receive the best care possible. He’s especially interested in preventing hospital readmissions and improving quality of life for patients living with long-term kidney problems. He stays current with the latest treatments and guidelines in nephrology and shares his knowledge by teaching medical students, residents and other healthcare providers.
After earning his medical degree at Hashemite University School of Medicine in Jordan, Dr. Al Khateeb completed his residency at Jordan University Hospital, Jordanian Royal Medical Services and Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar. He completed a nephrology fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center.

This was my first appointment with the kidney specialist. Too soon to tell, but I will share that I had explained my reason for concern, and showed pictures of my swelling and how I treated it at home(Lasix) the changes that were spoken about (change in BP med) was discussed and I agreed to it, but it did not give me any answers of why my legs are swelling after little to minimal activity. I'm always fearful that over time(s/p 10 years since transplant) that my kidney function needs to be looked at closer. I appreciate that he suggested that I get blood work every three months and I do look forward to following up with him throughout the next few months/years.
