About

Michael Fitzpatrick, MD, is cochair of Emergency Medicine for the Geisinger Medicine Institute. In his current role, he provides medical direction and administrative oversight for emergency services, including clinical operations for Geisinger’s central region platforms, the Geisinger Life Flight® program and EMS activities, the Emergency Medicine Residency Program and research initiatives, the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Program and all program development and staffing initiatives.
Dr. Fitzpatrick is a graduate of St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. He completed residency training in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and in emergency medicine at Geisinger Medical Center. He has achieved board certification in both of these specialties and is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Medicine.
An employee of Geisinger since 1998, Dr. Fitzpatrick has served as the director of Emergency Medicine for Geisinger Medical Center, the director of Geisinger Shamokin Community Hospital and Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, and the assistant program director for the Geisinger Emergency Medicine Residency Program. He has served on multiple committees, including Geisinger’s System Benefits and Performance Improvement committees and is currently cochair of the Chest Pain Program at Geisinger Medical Center. Dr. Fitzpatrick’s areas of clinical interest include hospital administration, performance improvement and optimizing patient experience.
