Michael Sobolewski, DO, MS, FAAOS, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and serves as the Western Region Director for Geisinger Musculoskeletal Institute in State College and Lewistown.
Dr Sobolewski specializes in joint replacement surgery of the hip, knee and shoulder focusing on minimally invasive techniques and the latest technology for expedited recovery. He performs Mako robotic-arm-assisted total knee replacement, partial knee replacement and total hip replacement. His practice also includes general orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine procedures such as ACL reconstruction, meniscus/ cartilage surgery, arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, carpal tunnel surgery and fracture care.
Dr. Sobolewski obtained his Doctor of Osteopathy in June 2008 and Master of Science in Medical Education in May 2011 at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Lake Erie Consortium for Osteopathic Medical Training in June 2013 and served as Chief Resident from July 2012 to June 2013.
Prior to joining Geisinger, Dr Sobolewski held the position of Medical Director for the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine as well as Chief of Surgery at Somerset Hospital in Pennsylvania. He received the CareChex Award for Excellence in Orthopedic Care, Joint Replacement and Patient Safety.
Dr. Sobolewski is an active professional member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society, American Osteopathic Association and Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

[...] was all I could ask for in a surgeon, having a clear protocol, experience, hearing and responding to my questions and concerns. He was open about what they found in surgery (extremely bad deterioration of bone, and the choices they made though not optimal (staples vs just surgical tape). Again, I appreciated this honesty vs "everything Is fine."
