Jami Avellini, MD

Jami Avellini, MD, is an obstetrician-gynecologist who specializes in labor and delivery. She provides comprehensive women's healthcare. She manages a full spectrum of obstetric and gynecologic conditions, including normal labor and delivery, induction and augmentation of labor, preterm labor, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC), cesarean sections, amniocentesis and external cephalic versions. 

She also treats gynecologic emergencies, including pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy, heavy vaginal bleeding and postop complications. “We are prepared to take gynecologic emergencies to the operating room when necessary,” Dr. Avellini says.

Dr. Avellini earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in 2006 and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Luke's University in Bethlehem.

“What I love most about my job is being able to show up for patients during some of the most important and sometimes most vulnerable moments of their lives,” she says. “As an OB-GYN hospitalist, things can change quickly. It is incredibly meaningful to be a steady, reassuring presence that helps a family feel safe and supported.”

Dr. Avellini is inspired by “making real-time decisions that protect mothers and babies, collaborating closely with nurses and midwives and knowing that care we give in those few hours can shape someone's experience for years.”

She is most proud of “helping teach and train learners in clinical settings and contributing to patient safety and quality improvements.”

She adds, “I also genuinely enjoy the mix of intensity and compassion — using skill and calm under pressure while still keeping the patient's humanity at the center of everything we do.”

Dr. Avellini was inspired to become a provider by her physician father. She says, “Watching the way he showed up for his patients — with strength, compassion and integrity — shaped how I wanted to serve others.” 
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children, getting outdoors and staying active. She also enjoys reading, travel, music, the beach and photography.
