About James Edward Murphy

Dr. Murphy is a board-certified and fellowship-trained adult reconstruction specialist. His clinical interests include progressive hip and knee replacement (including robotic partial and total knee and hip replacements as well as direct anterior hip replacements), rapid recovery protocols, revision surgery and treatment of infections. Dr. Murphy attended The Pennsylvania State University, where he earned his medical degree, and completed his residency at Case Western Reserve University. He completed his fellowship in adult reconstruction at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Murphy is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
When he's not at work, Dr. Murphy enjoys walking and other exercise, as well as reading and taking care of his plants. He is also a coin collector and roots for Cleveland sports teams.

    Provided gave a 2nd opinion on a surgery I had. He stated everything looked good. I went to another provider at the Rothman Institute who stated the kneecap used during the initial TKR was too big and I needed a revision surgery.

    This comment is a reflection on the obvious office rules NOT on Dr Murphy. It was obvious he had a small time allotedto spend on my appointment. He was thorough and thoughtful. I would have appreciated more time to further discuss treatments options like PT and helpful hints for living with deteriorating knees and living with an eye to possible future surgery.
