About Douglas Jon VanderBrook

Douglas VanderBrook, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in treating adults for painful hips and knees primarily caused by degenerative conditions like arthritis. He performs hip and knee reconstructive surgery as well as a less-invasive anterior hip replacement surgery. Dr. VanderBrook also provides treatments for joint infections and fractures.  
Dr. VanderBrook’s advanced training focused on reconstructive surgery for complex joint replacements. He has a clinical interest in non-narcotic pain management techniques following surgery, as well as in rapid recovery treatments, including surgery that has you headed home the same day.
What he enjoys most about his job? “Seeing how happy people are when they can return to activities they love,” says Dr. VanderBrook. “I love hearing about trips and events they can enjoy after their joint replacement surgery.” He adds that he’s proud when he sees multiple members of a family coming into his office. “This reinforces to us that we have earned the trust of our patients,” he says.
Originally from the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, Dr. VanderBrook lives with his family in northeast PA. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his son outdoors, hunting, getting out on the water and exploring local restaurants, breweries and wineries.

    Dr. VanderBrook, went into a deep discussion about my left knee arthritis and baker's cyst behind the knee. It's so good to have a doctor that wants to take the time to explain to his patient what they want to know. I will be seeing him in three months and I look forward to all my appointments with him.
