About Cynthia Ann Iyoob

Cynthia Iyoob is a registered dietitian in the Geisinger at Home program. She provides nutrition assistance to nutritionally compromised patients with conditions including cancer, malnutrition, diabetes, heart conditions, weight loss and wounds. She also cares for those with feeding tubes and those who need parenteral nutrition (TPN). “I gravitate toward patients with pressure areas/skin impairments,” she says. “I devise a plan to help them heal the area as fast as possible.”
She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nutrition and dietetics from Marywood University in Scranton.
The best part of her job, says Ms. Iyoob, is “when I truly know I have helped a patient with their nutrition in even the smallest of ways.”
As a child, she watched her parents manage her father’s Type I diabetes — and that inspired her to become a provider. “I grew up watching my father inject himself with insulin, poke his fingers to test his blood sugar, monitor his carbohydrates and everything else that came along with dealing with diabetes on a daily basis,” she says. “I watched my mother be very careful with preparing his meals in order to provide him with the best nutrition possible to help control his blood sugars. That's when I became interested in nutrition and helping others with this disease.”
Originally from Carbondale, Ms. Iyoob is a mother of twin boys. She enjoys toning with weights, running, walking and any outdoor activity.
