Aubrey Ann Wiesner, PA-C

Aubrey Wiesner is a certified physician assistant specializing in hematology/oncology. She treats cancers, including solid tumors, lymphoma and leukemia, as well as other blood conditions like anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia, bleeding disorders and blood clotting disorders. She performs a variety of specialized procedures, including bone marrow aspiration and bone marrow biopsy.
“I love the connections I make with both my patients and their families,” Ms. Wiesner says. “With a lot of my patients coming to the clinic often for chemotherapy, you get to know them on a very personal level — that helps me create lasting connections with them and helps them become comfortable coming to the clinic.”
Ms. Wiesner earned her physician assistant degree from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania.
During her clinical year in college, she completed an elective hematology/oncology rotation at Geisinger’s Knapper Clinic in Danville. That experience, Ms. Wiesner says, reinforced her desire to be in this field. She joined Geisinger after graduation, adding that as a native of St. Marys, in Elk County, Pa., she loves this area and patient population — and that she could stay near family.
Ms. Wiesner says her mother inspired her to pursue healthcare. “Growing up, I basically lived in nursing homes as my mother and I would visit my great-grandmother every day before I went to preschool and kindergarten,” she says. “The nurses there would take me around to visit the other residents and would always let me ‘help’ them. I have always had the urge to help others and was not sure which direction in medicine I wanted to go until I made it to college and joined the Pre-PA Club, where I was able to go on two different medical mission trips to Peru and Ecuador, and that solidified that my career choice was right for me.”
In her spare time, Ms. Wiesner enjoys creating all kinds of art — drawing, painting and building things. She also tends to her garden and flower beds, skis and goes to the gym.
