As a registered dietitian, Amy Pinkham, RDN, provides nutrition counseling to promote overall wellness and treat diet- and obesity-related diseases and illnesses.
Ms. Pinkham is passionate about helping patients achieve optimal health through her expertise as a certified culinary medicine specialist. She earned her Master of Science in Nutrition from the University at Buffalo.
She says it was only natural that she pursued a career in nutrition, adding, "This is the direction that God led me." By educating healthcare providers on the importance of nutrition, Ms. Pinkham believes she can bring about meaningful change in how they treat and care for patients.
She also teaches patients directly through Geisinger’s growing culinary medicine program and classes. “It’s incredibly rewarding when patients have their ‘aha’ moment on how to make nutrition a priority in a way that is not only delicious but also healthy, quick, uncomplicated and affordable,” she says.
Ms. Pinkham is particularly proud of the positive feedback she’s received from culinary medicine program participants, noting the impact it has on patients and their families. In fact, she was honored by the Pensylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics with the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award for her outstanding achievements and contributions to the profession and community she serves.
