MaleAbout Mohamed Husam Shitia
Dr. Shitia is a board-certified, fellowship-trained non-surgical sports medicine specialist. His clinical interests include non-operative management of musculoskeletal injuries, ultrasound-guided injections, and orthobiologic medicine, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP). He earned his medical degree from the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Case Western Reserve University's MetroHealth Medical Center. Dr. Shitia completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Virginia Tech, where he served as a team physician for the NCAA Division I Virginia Tech Hokies and Radford University Highlanders. He is certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Shitia serves as the head team physician for the Scranton High School Scarlet Knights, West Scranton High School Invaders and the Marywood University Pacers. In his personal time, he enjoys target archery, traveling, watching college and professional sports, and spending time with his family.

Every aspect of the process was explained in detail. What I didn't understand was later addressed as I asked questions, specifically what treatment I received would eventually yield. Although my issue wasn't resolved totally because of the condition of problems I am experiencing, other options were mentioned and later addressed in a follow-up phone call I received. I was very happy with this process.

Dr. Shitiia is a great doctor. I've seen him for several orthopedic problem and he always listens to what I'm saying and finds a way to fix it. He is friendly and talks with me when I am getting cortisone shots so I don't get nervous.

Dr Shitalia was down to earth, very learned and knowledgeable and took time to listen all of my concerns with my L hip/groin pain. He explained to me as he viewed the ultrasound screen the anatomy of the hip joint and pointed out the space where the injection ( corticosteroid) would be placed using medical terminology. I very much appreciated his patience in educating me as I'm a patient who seeks to learning details and specifics about any medical conditions I need treatment for. I believe I'm proactively asking questions of the specialist to learn and test their knowledge as well.
