About Atul Bali

Atul Bali, MD, is a clinical nephrologist who specializes in the diagnosis and management of chronic kidney disease, with special interest in hypertension and preventive nephrology. Board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology, he is also a certified hypertension specialist.
Dr. Bali cares for those with kidney disease, electrolyte and acid-base disorders and resistant hypertension. For people with advanced kidney failure, Dr. Bali offers treatments including hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis — and he’ll also work with you for an early referral for kidney transplantation, if needed.
After finishing his medical education at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College, he trained in internal medicine at Rochester General Hospital and completed a fellowship in nephrology at the University of Virginia. Dr. Bali is a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and a fellow of the National Kidney Foundation.
Passionate about offering his patients the best possible treatment, Dr. Bali is always working to arm people with knowledge about their condition. “I take pride in my ability to convey complex medical information to people to empower them to take better care of themselves,” he says.
He is an active member of the Independent Review Board for the American Medical Association’s Validated Device Listing, to help patients obtain blood pressure devices that are accurate and reliable. He also serves on the Membership and Communications Committee of the American Heart Association's Council on Hypertension.
In addition to his clinical background, Dr. Bali remains committed to medical education and was the recipient of the American College of Physicians’ Virginia Chapter’s 2020 Community Teaching Award. He is a Distinguished Member of the Geisinger Academy of Educators.
