Adela Germano, MD, is a family medicine doctor who sees children and adults of all ages. “I see patients ages 0 to 100 years old — because in family medicine, all are welcome,” she says. Dr. Germano treats conditions including heart disease, high blood pressure, depression and anxiety. She also provides Pap smears and birth control counseling for woman and sports physicals for teens.
Dr. Germano encourages her patients to ask questions. “If I don't know the answer, I make it my job to find the right specialist or care provider to help. I believe medicine works best as a partnership with the patient,” she says. “I try to listen more than I talk. I welcome you to use the time in my office as dedicated self-care.”
Her cousin is a physician who practices with her husband in a small town in rural Illinois. Dr. Germano adds, “She inspired me to become a doctor because I could tell she loved helping people in big and small ways.”
After earning her bachelor’s degree in communication and Spanish from the University of Indianapolis, Dr. Germano pursued her medical degree from Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland. She completed her residency with Penn State Health Family Medicine at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Dr. Germano was born in Brazil and speaks both English and Spanish. In her free time, this new mom loves caring for her baby girl, hiking with her husky and watching TV and movies.

There were some things discussed about a pain in my shoulder/neck that I felt she was just suggesting medication and not trying to figure out was causing the pain. She asked if I was interested in a shot to which I told her I was not.

I have been seeing a physical therapist for a flare up in neck pain. I needed a physician referral to continue beyond 30 days. I was told I had to be seen in person. When my provider walked into the room I told her I was there to get a script and she immediately said, "Ok, I'll sign it." There was no physical exam, nothing addressing my neck pain. She listened to my heart and lungs and and suggested weight loss medication. I asked if she wanted to do anything to address my neck like imaging and she declined.
