There is no publicly available rating for this care provider for one or more of the following reasons:
  1. He or she does not see patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
  2. He or she sees patients, but has not yet received the minimum number of Patient Satisfaction Reviews. To be eligible for display, we require a minimum of 30 surveys. This ensures that the rating is accurate and statistically reliable.
  3. He or she is a community provider, not a Geisinger-employed provider. Community providers tend to see patients in their own private outpatient practices, which we do not survey.

Was told could do a sonogram if I wanted it but didn't insist that one should be done to rule out anything. Then told to follow up with the family doctor in a week maybe he would end up ordering having a scope done. Came home and even felt worse ended up at the Tyrone Regional ER that evening which they didn't do anything based on the doctors paperwork we received. Sunday ended up at Mount Nittany ER and they automatically did a sonogram and ruled out Gall Badder and sent me home with 2 perscriptions and told me to follow up with family doctor which if problem still consisted to have him sent up a CT scan or even having a scope to the stomach.

after expressing that i am not comfortable with steriods, that is what was prescribed for my sinus infection. I was told if i got worse and came back, then she would give antibiotics. At this point, I gave up. I GUESS I"M NOT SICK ENOUIGH! i 'm still quite sick, and have not returned to work. I feel I can not trust anymore. I contacted her and It's like she wantwed me sicker so she could spend all my money doing all kinds of test, which is what she is suggesting. i'm not rich, and can't afford it. So I guess I have to stay away!

Most of my visit was with Mary who is either a nurse or physician's assistant. She was terrific and has always been so whenever I've interacted with her..

Don't understand why she couldn't give medication one day early. Some months have 31 days. So I had to make two trips to Walmart.

My expectations of the Rheumatology department were to try to get some direction to go in to prevent my hands from disfigurement by ending the severe inflammatory reaction my body was having to something. It apparently does not like some thing. The Rheumatologist suggested no testing to sort our what a Geisinger "specialist".

Dr. Manisha Patel is excellent and I've recommended her several times and also the Geisinger system.
Jul 10, 2015
I got the impression Dr. Patel was afraid to touch me. My wife, who was present at the exam, even said afterward "She certainly did not do any poking or prodding!" I wonder if internal med doctors are more prone to diagnose via dialogue & tests? Dr Mainali, also, always has a list of additional tests she wants me to take but doesn't seem to realize my body is right in front of her.
Jul 9, 2015
I love Manisha Patel and wish there were more like her.
Jul 2, 2015
My PCP was unavailable. I saw Dr. Patel as a last resort for a recurring condition (bronchitis). I advised her of successful treatments that my PCP and I had discovered over the last several years and recommended she read previous reports. She prescribed different meds, including one that could not be taken through my PEG tube. The antibiotic was ineffective and I ended up in the ER the next day, then admitted for 3 days to Mt Nittany with pneumonia. I will never use Dr. Patel again.

Dr Patel was very quick with me and seemed disgusted by the fact that I had the rash all over my upper body, even though I had explained that it had spread from my neck to the whole body overnight. She did not examine my skin (poison ivy), didn't check my glands or throat even though I told her I felt congested and had a sore throat and cough, and wanted to prescribe me a high dose steroid at first, even though she was aware that I was 15 weeks pregnant. I explained that I did not feel comfortable taking a steroid of that strength in pregnancy. She then switched to a lower dose steroid which she said would not harm the baby in any way, but when I got to the pharmacy, the pharmacist refused to give me the medication because it is Pregnancy Class C and could pose a threat to my baby's health. I was not told ANY of that by Dr. Patel. I was very upset with the treatment I received by this doctor.
