There is no publicly available rating for this care provider for one or more of the following reasons:
  1. He or she does not see patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
  2. He or she sees patients, but has not yet received the minimum number of Patient Satisfaction Reviews. To be eligible for display, we require a minimum of 30 surveys. This ensures that the rating is accurate and statistically reliable.
  3. He or she is a community provider, not a Geisinger-employed provider. Community providers tend to see patients in their own private outpatient practices, which we do not survey.

I would have preferred a phone call versus going to the office to hear nothing new. It was a waste of both Dr. Schaefer's time and mine.

Didn't address my concerns or take the time to talk about other possible alternate reasons for my issues. It was her way or no way. ALL my other care providers have taken the time to explain and help us make the best decisions TOGETHER.

hi, personally I like Dr. Schaeffer but she does not take me seriously. I have had intractable migraine since I was eight years old and I am 52. my personal physician Dr. John Piatt has treated me for migraines for 15 to 20 years, and knows me very well. Dr. Schaeffer was unwilling to offer any significant narcotic pain relief even in small amounts under close supervision. The emergency room has labeled me a nonnarcotic patient because I was on methadone for hip arthritis which you can look in my records and find out not for heroin. my drug abuse in my record which I continually has to be changed from heroin, was from 1993. since that time I have not done any illicit or illegal drugs. I am involved in therapy once a week with Dr. Scott Scotilla, and I have no intention of abusing substances. My last migraine after I was released from the hospital with a seizure because of the wrong medication they gave me due to their new nonnarcotic policy left me on the bathroom floor for a total of 12 hours. vomiting and in severe pain, I explain this to Dr. Schaeffer and she was unwilling because she doesn't know me well enough to help me with the pain. I take Imitrex for most of my migraines and it works 90% of the time. however, it is unreasonable and unbelievable to me that I can suffer in pain for that long and I have no outlet to go to tonight for instance, for relief. I can write Dr. Schaeffer's letters every day so she can get to know me better and I have been sending her migraine reports but basically I have no outlet for pain relief .

Dr. Schaefer is outstanding. I couldn't be happier. Fast, simple tests to determine the cause and followup directions to better assess treatment.

Dr. Schaefer was very thorough and answered our questions comprehensively. We did not feel rushed during the appt. (My husband came along for moral support.)

There has been no discussion about what to do about my headaches. they are not being eased by migraine medication, and all Dr. Schaefer is doing is increasing the dosage. They are getting worse - it had been 3 months.

Dr. Schaefer has always been concerned and supportive.

Follow-up about anaerobic or aerobic exercise regimen would be the province of a different specialist, but was evidently not deemed necessary.

dr was great in taking her time explaining things to me and showing me my scan so I better understand my situation. I most certainly would revisit and recommend her to others.

The doctor was really nice and went over everything in detail. She asked tons of questions and took notes on every one of my answers, unlike other doctors I've had in the past.

this was my first visit....so some of the answers to these questions could change after more visits.

Doctor wasted no time in letting me know that she would not be accepting me as a patient. She claimed that her position was based on the fact that there was no one to "manage my DBS" here. her manner was brusque and dismissive, and certainly was not the way I would expect a physician to deal with a Parkinson's patient, especially one who was initially diagnosed and treated by her predecessor, Kevin Parry. An altogether unsatisfactory experience.
