  1. He or she does not see patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
  2. He or she sees patients, but has not yet received the minimum number of Patient Satisfaction Reviews. To be eligible for display, we require a minimum of 30 surveys. This ensures that the rating is accurate and statistically reliable.
  3. He or she is a community provider, not a Geisinger-employed provider. Community providers tend to see patients in their own private outpatient practices, which we do not survey.

I was very disappointed in Dr.Harter I felt like he brushed off my concerns and did not really know what to tell me.

Was very disappointed in the amount of time Dr. Harter was in the room. He introduced himself and basically was gone!

I've been a patient of Dr Harter for 12 years. Never a complaint till last visit. Maybe Geisinger should worry about "quality" rather than "quantity". Practice what you preach.

Top of the line treatment.

Dr. Harter is a good doctor . The resident didn't know anything to answer nor did he tell Dr. Harter I had questions so Dr. Harter didn't stay long enough to answer questions.... I left with a lot of unanswered questions.

Was seen by a Physician Assistant. He was very nice and listened to the problem. Did some movement of the arm. He left said Dr. Harder would be in. Dr. Harder looked at the x-rays and said it could be a muscle injury or torn rotator cuff, but wasn't sure. Recommended 3 weeks of physical therapy and then he would see me again. Have lot of pain. Recommended Ibuprofen for pain. If after 3 weeks and it didn't improve he would recommend a MRI. Could not get physical therapy until Jan. 5th and He wants to see me on the 13th. This injury happened on Dec 9 and I have had pain since then. Can't lift my arm up can hardly get dressed. So no therapy has happened yet and no MRI. I will only have therapy for a week. Not very satisfied .

Dr. Harter is a very down to earth person and cares about you

I did not actually see Dr. Harter for the majority of the appointment, I saw a Corey who was a resident. He was very informal and did not explain anything. I do not have a very good idea of plan or care moving forward and when I asked for an explanation or for recommendations I was met with half-hearted answers. I was not very pleased with the amount of effort this resident put into the appointment. I also felt like continuity of care would have been better if Dr. Harter would have been more involved in the visit since I had reinjured the arm and am not progressing with therapy and the prior injection was not helpful. All around I left with questions, and consequently my physical therapist is at a loss as to how to help because she was hoping for some direction as well.

Usually Dr. Harter is very personable, but this visit he was curt when answering the few questions I had.

30 second visit... no concern for patient.. poor bedside manner

Dr. Harter doesn't spend time with me, is always in a hurry, comes across very strong personality and intimidating. Never asked me about my concerns or if I had questions. All of that is true and yet I do have a great deal of confidence in him as a surgeon.

good experience
June 8, 2016
Dr. Harter spent minimal time with me. I was confused and unsure of his treatment plan. The PA explained things a little better, but I was still so confused I had to call the office when I got home for a better explanation.

Was sincerely gracious in understanding my pain and was concerned that it couldn't be done sooner.

Dr. Hanter is a fantastic doc & surgeon. If it wasn't for him my arm probably won't have been fixed. And he is concerned about his patients and you won't find a better surgeon then Dr. Hanter. I recommend him to my friends & family. Awesome.

already recommended physician

Dr Harter is definitely the most professional and nicest physician I have had the pleasure to deal with at Geisinger. His whole staff is most impressive. Dr Harter himself is consistently professional in speech and appearance. He dresses in a suit and tie much of the time, he always directly greets you face to face with a cheery smile and a hand shake. He thanked me for allowing me to provide a service and shook my hand and asked me to consider him again if the need ever arises. Most refreshing. He impressed me very much because I have been an inpatient nurse for almost 30 years and I feel I have seen my share of physicians both good and bad. I definitely would recommend him to any one needing a similar procedure
Apr 20, 2016
Dr. Harter is very much a people person and did not make you feel like he was in a hurry to get to the next patient.
Apr 20, 2016
he had no time to talk to me about anything the last 2 times i have been there did not tell me my options because like isaid he told me 2 or 3 times in about 3 min he spent with me he had a plane to catch big deal should not have had appointments that day if he was in such a rush!!!!

Very confident and professional.
March 7, 2016
Dr. Harter was recommended by family for a third opinion after I received conflicting information. I barely saw Dr. Harter for more than 5 min.; was unable to ask questions and his resident also lacked knowledge. I was unimpressed, and very unhappy after traveling over an hour and than waiting an hour.
