There is no publicly available rating for this care provider for one or more of the following reasons:
  1. He or she does not see patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
  2. He or she sees patients, but has not yet received the minimum number of Patient Satisfaction Reviews. To be eligible for display, we require a minimum of 30 surveys. This ensures that the rating is accurate and statistically reliable.
  3. He or she is a community provider, not a Geisinger-employed provider. Community providers tend to see patients in their own private outpatient practices, which we do not survey.

The doctor was a bit difficult to communicate with. Rather than trying to get to know the patient and where she is at developmentally/socially, he seemed to move quickly through the exam. It was unclear at the end of the appointment whether or not he though that she was on-target with her development.

Dr. Jarvie continues to be a very informative and caring pediatrician. Our son likes him and how Dr. Jarvie treats him "like a big kid."

Even on a Sunday, Dr. Jarvie called the ID doctor on call for my daughter. He spent a lot of time with us, explaining things and doing everything he could to help us. He is an excellent doctor!

Dr Jarvie is an incredible pediatrician. A calming influence, a friendly demeanor - a credit to Geisinger.

Dr. Jarvie has gotten to know both of my children very well, and always shows genuine concern for what is happening in the moment. We also REALLY appreciate him being in the practice on weekends. My son feels very safe with him, and given his frequency of illnesses and doctor visits, that's saying a lot.

Dr. Jarvie was great! He explained our sons condition, what to expect next, and reassured us that it is always okay to come in for a check when something arises that we are concerned about.

I've noticed on several occasions that Dr. Jarvie really blows off certain concerns that have been reputed by research and "talks down" to me when I bring them up. This time I brought up the concern that my son may have a small tongue tie. He took a quick (3 second) look and then told me something about how research shows beyond nursing, there's really no proof that it causes any problems. Fine, but there is no acknowledgement of my concern or even asking if I've noticed any problems related to it. It comes across as rather condescending. He did the same thing when my son was only a few months old and experiencing lots of gas and an immense amount of spit up - I felt like I was being lectured to (gas meds for infants are unnecessary and prescribed way to often) instead of having my concerns acknowledged and explained.

Dr Jarvie (and all the doctors here) are amazing!
Apr 22, 2016
Dr Jarvie did not what a d diner test was or how to easily do a work up for a pulmonary embolus.
Apr 17, 2016
This was the first time our family has seen this doctor. He was AMAZING! We appreciate the care and concern he gave.
Apr 16, 2016
It seems since Dr. Jarvie's schedule change he is much more rushed during our visits.

Dr Jarvis is the best! Thank you for talking with my son and taking care of him.

Not impressed with his dismissal of my sons potential for allergies this time of year. Said "what's in bloom now- nothing" did not give me confidence. As someone who struggled (and whose spouse also currently struggles) with migraines that have a huge allergy component, this showed a lack of competence. Whether allergies are affecting you or not this or any time of year depends what you're allergic to! Also not impressed with him discouraging use of Tylenol when my son was clearly miserable- to us it sounded a lot like "don't take that. That will just prolong the illness and make him feel better." Even if it prolongs it a couple days but he isn't miserable, isn't that something we could consider worth it (or shouldn't that be left to us)! Totally on board with no antibiotics unless absolutely necessary and all of the holistic treatments, but as someone who has had major issues with allergies all her life, this just seemed like a particularly misinformed statement.
