There is no publicly available rating for this care provider for one or more of the following reasons:
  1. He or she does not see patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
  2. He or she sees patients, but has not yet received the minimum number of Patient Satisfaction Reviews. To be eligible for display, we require a minimum of 30 surveys. This ensures that the rating is accurate and statistically reliable.
  3. He or she is a community provider, not a Geisinger-employed provider. Community providers tend to see patients in their own private outpatient practices, which we do not survey.

Appointment was for a physical exam. I have heart palpitations and no EKG was performed. There also were no testicular or prostate exams performed being over 55 years of age. I always have to ask for routine blood/lab work because Dr. Braum says that it is not needed, not every three years. I request it anyways once a year.

This was my first time with Dr. Braum and I was very pleased with his way of caring for me and handling my problem.

this was just a routine physical. no problems or concerns were existing, however I felt as though he rushed through the exam and perhaps could have missed a problem/symptom if any were to be found

I wanted to discuss lab results ordered by another provider before proceeding with a procedure based on the results, and the dr. did not even look at my results on the computer. When I told him I was having new symptoms, he did not exam me, but offered the option of another referral. The labs I had had done were part of a yearly physical requested by me that came back abnormal and nobody has been able to determine why. He said that he is not an advocate of routine labs being done as "preventive medicine" and when I asked him if he would have the more invasive procedure done if it were him, he said he wouldn't have had the labs done in the first place and that once one "jumps down the rabbit hole," it's a matter of how far you want to go to get answers. This had to be the most unprofessional medical advice I've ever received. I will be canceling my 8 month-out "established patient" appointment and will find a different primary care physician.

We do not like Dr. Braum, he does not have the personality to be a doctor, no bed side manner! I would not recommend Dr. Braum. We had requested not to have Him as my father's family doctor!

At previous appointments did not express concerns about slightly high glucose readings (less than 140) until I had 3 consecutive high readings & he labeled me diabetic even thought my HgbA1c was within normal range. I since lost about 40 much needed pounds & have had multiple glucose readings all below 100 & my A1c has remained within normal limits. Dr Braum would not listen to my concerns about being labeled diabetic which has the potential to affect my livelyhood & insists I am diabetic. I will not return to him as a provider & am in the process of leaving the practice all together. I do not want a provider who will not work with me. He did not talk to me about my elevated sugars until he suddenly decided I was diabetic. If he had talked to me when he got my second high reading & said if they continue to be high we may need to consider treatment/diagnosis & I had then lost the weight I needed to He never would have labeled me diabetic.

My wife and I have no problem with Dr. Braum

The primary reason for my visit was a one year follow-up check on my cholesterol levels. I visited the office, received a brief physical from Dr. Braum and he ordered the blood work to re-check my cholesterol. It is worth noting at this point that I do not believe anyone would have even mentioned checking my cholesterol had I not brought it up, despite that being the whole reason this appointment had been scheduled for a year. When the receptionist called to confirm my appointment, I had to ask her if I should fast, she indicated the notes only said I was to be coming for a physical. When I was in the office, again, I brought up to the check-in nurse that I needed the cholesterol re-checked. I found this to be unprofessional and demonstrating a lack of concern or attention to my previous records and taking the time to understand the reason for my recent visit. However, this is actually the lesser issue I had with my recent experience. The bigger issue occurred after my physical and blood work. Rather than receive a call from the doctor who had seen me, I received a call from a 570 area code (not in my area). The woman introduced herself as someone from Geisinger but did not state her position. She is someone who I never dealt with before. The conversation I had with her basically went like this "Oh, bad news but your cholesterol is up. We called in a prescription for you of Lipitor. We want you to pick that up and start taking that daily and we'll see you back in 12 weeks to recheck your cholesterol." That's it. No call from a doctor who was willing to speak about my condition, or an offer to come back in to speak to a doctor. From my recollection I don't think the woman even asked if I had any questions. She also did not indicate if I was to schedule the 12 week follow up she mentioned. She was very polite but that is beside the point. To me this is totally unacceptable "care". You do not have an unidentified stranger call to tell someone they are going to be put on a daily medication without previously having discussed the implications of this. I know that current culture might be to just throw medicine at people and a lot of people are fine with that but I am not. At this point I intend to seek care outside of Geisinger to follow up on this issue, because I find it hard to trust a provider who handles this situation in this manner.
