There is no publicly available rating for this care provider for one or more of the following reasons:
  1. He or she does not see patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
  2. He or she sees patients, but has not yet received the minimum number of Patient Satisfaction Reviews. To be eligible for display, we require a minimum of 30 surveys. This ensures that the rating is accurate and statistically reliable.
  3. He or she is a community provider, not a Geisinger-employed provider. Community providers tend to see patients in their own private outpatient practices, which we do not survey.

Dr Wheeler always listens to your concerns and advises appropriately. He is the best doctor I have ever had and I am sad that he will be retiring. I am happy for him but sad for me. I will miss his expertise, friendliness and efficient care.

Jul 15
Dr. Wheeler has been fantastic. Sorry he is retiring but he deserves it.
Jul 15
9) Will never have a care provider that I have been as confident in as Dr. Wheeler! 10) Left this appointment so devastated from his news of retiring. So happy for him and his family but there will be a definite hole there at Geisinger without him. Never had a Dr. so caring & concerned as he has been!
Jul 15
please allow Dr. Wheeler any means in which to allow him to continue his care for his patients.
Jul 15
I wish he was not retiring

Dr. Wheeler knew what was going on with me from reading my file. He took the time to go over my previous labs and tests. He asked many questions about what was going on and explained his course of treatment with me in detail.
Apr 19

Apr 19
Dr Wheeler and others have been reluctant to use the word cancer, but he did not hide it, for which I am duly appreciative. I do not need to be protected from information.
Apr 16
I was well satisfied with the doc. He took great concern in helping me with my problem. Being that this was weekend clinic, I had never seen him before.
Apr 14
I am so "well," that I think I am not taken seriously enough when I have valid concerns.

March 30
I like Dr. Wheeler very much. He lets me ask questions, answers them and takes time to explain meds, etc. to me. I've been with him for many years.
March 28
There should be an N/A for some of these questions.
March 22
I have been with my primary doctor for many years. I trust all the information he gives me. He has a place of trust not provided with other groups in our community. The group always has my health on the top of their list for keeping me up to date in all my tests for a person of my years.
March 21
Dr. Wheeler was very kind and also thorough during my visit with him. Thank you Dr. Wheeler for your care.
March 16
Dr. Wheeler is the best!
March 15
I might have missed a couple of details about the medication that Dr. Wheeler didn't cover, if I hadn't read all of the materials that came with the prescription. But I don't expect him to be a walking tome of everything about all medications, that's why the printed materials are given with the prescription.
March 10
The time seemed short - but Dr. Wheeler was efficient and covered everything. The answer for #10 has nothing to do with my recent appointment.
March 5
I've had a chest cold abd sinus issues for two months with two rounds of antibiotics and no relief. As soon as he heard that I had a cough(which was only for a week), he didn't address the other issues but thought it was allergies and asthma. He ordered a chest xray and blood and all came back normal and didn't prescribe any meds but said to take Delsym. That was my next step but thought maybe he'd try a zpac or something else because it felt like bronchitis which I've had before. I had to followup via email to see what he wanted me to do after all of the tests were done. I feel like he didn't listen to the whole issue and it still isn't resolved.
March 4
excellent, thorough doctor
March 3
Dr. Wheeler is very professional and always takes time to answer questions and creates an environment that for the moment the patient is the main focus.
March 2
Dr Wheeler has been a great doctor and have enjoyed seeing him for well over a decade.
March 2
It seems that since I've been on medicare/tricare, the semi annual physical exams are not as thorough and much shorter. Almost like Geisinger's policy is to shorten the time the physician can spend with their patients in order to maximize profit. I don't blame the physician but on Geisinger pollicy

Feb 18
Dr. Wheeler is the best always very attentive and professional.
Feb 12
Dr. Wheeler explained condition and results of testing from previous ER visit. Also provided copies of all testing results. He and scheduling personnel went further to try to expedite a follow-up consultation with a surgeon due to my personal situation. My first grandchild is due March 23rd in Albany, NY and I would love to be able to be there without worry about a 2nd gallbladder attack or recovering from surgery. Since the consult isn't for another 3 weeks this is looking to be touch and go.
Feb 11
Dr. Wheeler is a great doctor.

Dec 28, 2015
I questioned appropriateness of antibiotic but he prescribed it anyway. It seemed quite likely I had a virus so use of antibiotic was somewhat irresponsible.

Dec 9, 2015
I will make sure that I will NEVER make another appointment with him again if my regular dr is not available. when I leave the dr office in tears because he didn't listen to me as a patient I feel there is a problem. I feel he needs practice on this. he wants to be the one talking all the time not listening to the patient. will NOT go back to him!!!!!
Dec 7, 2015
Dr. Wheeler is extremely patient and explains things in a way that is easy to understand. He doesn't mind repeating information to help ensure that I've fully understood what we are discussing.
Nov 27, 2015
Although Dr. Wheeler is not my primary care physician and he was covering for same, he came into the interview obviously well-prepared and having taken the time to review my history very carefully. He was thorough, highly professional in his opinion and recommendations. I was impressed and grateful for his concern and care.

Aug 25, 2015
Dr. Wheeler knew that I was anticipating knee replacement surgery. He had copied some tests I recently had done anticipating that I would probably not have to repeat them at the hospital. And he was correct. Thus he saved me time and worry. He also encouraged me to do the surgery since I control my diabetes by diet exercise, mostly walking and cannot do that with my current knee problem. He also encouraged me to get a flu shot as soon as possible which I have done. Overall I have much confidence in Dr. Wheeler's expertise and also in his concern to do what is best for his patients. He also listens and seems to hear you when you ask questions or comment on stuff. He is a great Doctor in my opinion and I am glad he is my physician.
Aug 25, 2015
I did not want to be referred to an Allergist/Immunologist just to determine whether I will have an allergic reaction to a flu shot. I think that is excessive, but I understand primary physician's reasoning.
