  1. He or she does not see patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
  2. He or she sees patients, but has not yet received the minimum number of Patient Satisfaction Reviews. To be eligible for display, we require a minimum of 30 surveys. This ensures that the rating is accurate and statistically reliable.
  3. He or she is a community provider, not a Geisinger-employed provider. Community providers tend to see patients in their own private outpatient practices, which we do not survey.

Dr. Maxin has been. my provider for 15 Years and now he is retiring. I will miss him, he was the best provider I ever had. He actually saved my life when he diagnosed that I had a blood clot in my lung. I wish him a long and happy retirement.

I have conducted considerable research on nutrition and health over the past 4 years and have significantly altered my life style based on this research. Physicians whom I have been in contact with seem to be poorly informed on the benifits of nutrition in health care.

Dr Maxin was extremely kind and gentle with my father as he prepares to leave his home where he lives alone and move to an assisted living apartment near me (daughter and POA). Dr Maxin was very supportive of both my father and of me and related well to my father, who has been seeing him for many years. His prompt attention to the medical forms necessary for the assisted living residence was received with high praise form the director, who made a point to say that everything was completed properly and timely. (Deb Cochran, daughter & POA)

Jan 19
Since Dr. Maxin is retiring in September, I will not recommend him to anyone, despite his excellent care.
Jan 19
My only problem with Dr. Maxin is that you cannot schedule his appointments directly online, but rather have to request an appointment, and the scheduling center sets one up. As noted in a previous response, this process worked well, almost too well, since the appointment that was scheduled was before I next checked my e-mail.

Never saw Dr. Maxin before..He was thoroughly professional, and a very concerned Dr. I would recommend him as a physician

Dr. Maxin informed me he would retire this September. I felt a great sense of loss for myself and other patients hearing this. I feel he is what I wish all my doctors were. He has been caring and concerned for all visits and a very good doctor.

Dr. Maxin is an excellent primary care physician. He's a good listener and explains things very well. I couldn't be more satisfied with the care Dr. Maxin provides to me. I have been seeing him since 1977, and it's always a good experience.
Nov 12, 2015
I would recommend Dr. Maxin to anyone without reservation. He is an excellent doctor who takes the time to discuss medical concerns and issues willingly and clearly. He shows an exceptional concern for his patient.

The doctor did not do a physical exam of me. He did not listen to my heart or lungs. He did not palpate my neck even though I mentioned feeling like I had swollen glands. The nurse weighed me, toke my temperature, pulse, and blood pressure. She did not listen to my heart or lungs either. I do like Dr. Maxin. He was very helpful w/ my list of questions.

During this visit, an intern from Temple was participating. I thought this gentleman had a very good attitude and was very informative.

This was a routine check-back, on long-term issues. The single new development was discussed in adequate detail. The only thing restraining me from recommending Dr. Maxin to others is his intention to cut down his office hours preparatory to retirement.

Dr. Maxin is a very good & caring dr. He listens to your problems.

I went in after a fall. Dr. Maxin ordered an xray of my arm and my knee. He looked at the xray right away, and thought maybe I had an impact fracture to the arm. The radiologist however decided I did not. As it turns out, though, I did, as I went to the University Orthopedic Center after a physician friend looked at the arm and said I needed more xrays. Dr. Maxin had not scheduled a follow-up, which should have been done according to my friend, at about 3 weeks. The orthopedic office said they would have put my arm in a cast from the first. As a result of the misdiagnosis, and lack of follow-up, however, I didn't see the Orthopedic Specialist until 5 weeks later. Luckily, it was not the kind of fracture that couldn't heal on its own, given some protection. I have expressed my unhappiness to Dr. Maxin about my experience, in the hope that Geisinger might institute this kind of follow-up practice that my friend does; and which makes complete sense. He said that at 3 weeks, if the patient is still have problems that he orders a second round of more thorough xrays. Perhaps, however, it is a policy of Geisinger to not do so, and has nothing to do with Dr. Maxin's preference. I wouldn't know that.

No problems so many questions were not appropriate - but Dr. Maxin would have provided necessary information if needed - have great respect for him and depend on his knowledge.
