There is no publicly available rating for this care provider for one or more of the following reasons:
  1. He or she does not see patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
  2. He or she sees patients, but has not yet received the minimum number of Patient Satisfaction Reviews. To be eligible for display, we require a minimum of 30 surveys. This ensures that the rating is accurate and statistically reliable.
  3. He or she is a community provider, not a Geisinger-employed provider. Community providers tend to see patients in their own private outpatient practices, which we do not survey.

This was my second visit with Dr. Starkey, and as was previously the case, I found him distant and fairly uncommunicative. He seemed to show relatively little interest in me or my case, rather as though he was going through the motions, and I left feeling deeply unsatisfied with the experience. However, his follow-up the next day by e-message (via, detailing the results of some blood work, was thorough and extremely detailed, and he answered followup questions almost immediately and moved quickly on several matters. It was, in some respects, almost like dealing with a different physician.

He is part-time and probably retiring so I would recommend him but not sure how long he will be with Geisinger.

Did not help me understand my main concern. Parathyroid. Spent most of the time typing in details about my supplements. My parathyroid just changed and I do not agree it is from my kidneys. He gave no other explanation. I did not feel at ease or comfortable when I left. Couldn't understand why last dr Signilov said I need prolia because he said I was osteoporosis. Dr Starkey just said now I don't have it but didn't explain if it was a prior bad test reading and he didn't explain how it could improve like it did to get me into the osteoporosis category. Im confused but glad I don't need meds. Dr Signolov was very insistant I get on the prolia meds. Once again I left confused. I may be looking for new doctors outside of geisinger.

No matter how long between visits, Dr. Starkey always remembers me. He shows a high amount of concern for my health.

I feel with my past history of thyroid cancer Dr. Starkey has not been proactive at all in this situation. He always says he is skeptical that it is cancer and it has been each time. He is very forgetful, does not remember what I had done as far as procedures and changes to medications. I just do not have the confidence that he is on top of this situation especially as now I have another nodule that needs to be taken care of.

Everything was very professional and I would recommend without any hesitation.

He didn't seem that concerned about my thyroid condition & didn't do anything different than my family doctor would do. I felt it was a waste of my time & money to go to a special clinic but I don't blame Dr. Starkey or Geisinger - after all, I was the one that scheduled the appointment.

Dr. Starkey is a physician that always is friendly & professional. He takes his time & knows my health record before we begin out visit which makes me feel very confident with him & his advice & care of me.

More worried about going over my past history instead of why I was there today and that no endocrinologist found these issues but a rheumatologist found them , very sad when they refuse to listen and ear what i am saying and figure out why and to stop it. No other doctor anywhere keeps going back over the history like GMC does. Very annyoing each and every time and waste of my time to have to reanswer the same question every time. PLEASE STOP IT IN THE FILE AND DOES NOT NEED BROUGHT UP EVERY TIME. PAY ATTENTION TO WHY THE PATIENT IS THERE NOW AND HELP WITH THAT ISSUE INSTEAD OF THE MAIN PART OF APPT. ON PAST HISTORY

I really like Dr. Starkey, I'm very glad he did not retire. I trust him completely, and think he's a great physician. He answers all my questions fully, and is really great about including complete office notes so I can read them in MyGeisinger.
